International investigation identifies over 70 potential victims exploited in Indian restaurants

Europol reported that an international investigation identified more than 70 possible victims of exploitation in Indian restaurants, with coordinated enforcement activity on 18 September 2026 resulting in two arrests. Suspected traffickers allegedly compelled workers to work daily shifts lasting up to 16 hours, underpaid them and obstructed their departure from the country, generating estimated illicit profits of at least EUR 4 million.
