Unregulated loan notes and mini-bonds: don't risk your savings on promises of high returns

The Financial Conduct Authority warned about high-risk loan notes and mini-bonds, whose promotion to ordinary retail investors it prohibited from January 2021 because their complexity makes them unsuitable for most people. It cautioned that unregulated firms may use legal exemptions to sell these investments and that declaring sophisticated, experienced or high-net-worth investor status could mean losing important protections.
